After months beneath a coronavirus-induced lockdown, it feels like Bollywood and the nation are preparing to roll the walls up at large. Because of the uncertainty of this crisis, filmmakers seemed to be embracing the electronic era and opting rather than waiting it out to possess a general theatrical release. The Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Maidaan’ was said to be among those movies going the electronic way, but producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed it will not be so.
Pointing out that the times were changing, he explained that theatres and OTT platforms could co-exist. He stated that digital platforms assist people who have their movies ready and may not be in a position while there are a few producers who do not mind the wait to get a theatrical release.
While addressing the bookings of vendors to digital releases, Kapoor said that they should practically see the problem.
As far as ‘Maidaan’ is concerned, the rest of the section of the film is expected to go on floors in November. It was recently demonstrated that the group dismantled their sets because of the onset of the monsoons. The group will start reassembling their sets, two months it has been reported.
Previously, the flick was set to release on 27 November 2020 and postponed 11 December 2020.
‘Maidaan’ is a sports-drama dedicated to the years of Indian soccer. Ajay will be viewed essaying the role of the legendary trainer Syed Abdul Rahim, who’s widely known as the founding father of Indian soccer. Helmed by ‘Badhai Ho’ filmmaker Amit Ravindrenath Sharma the film also features Gajraj Rao and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
