Black Widow: Plot

For the uninitiated, Marvel intends and releases movies from narrative stages that are connected. Many of the titles in each step are standalone movies on characters, plus they usually build-up toward the Avengers teaming up to take care of a hazard in the phase’s last film. Phase 3 bucked that trend slightly Far From Home as something of an Epilogue into the three phases’ Infinity Stone-driven saga.

This places Black Widow in a fascinating spot. Although it’s set a decade before, in the period of this MCU, it’ll begin a new period of Marvel films, Phase 4. It is starring a character who died in Phase 3. Thus, it’s an incredibly Phase 3-ish movie, and it’s intended to be a Stage 4 movie.
