The next instalment of Netflix’s popular romance franchise, Kissing Booth, has already been taken and will premiere on the platform next year. The news comes after the sequel to the debuted about the streaming service.
According to Deadline, celebrities Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young, and Molly Ringwald are set to go back for the film. “We filmed two and three at the same time,” Courtney shared during a YouTube reside with the cast.
“It had been the hardest secret to maintain ever,” King added, stating that filming was catchy because”in 1 day we’d be filming equally.” Netflix declared the third instalment in the franchise.
“It is official! The Kissing Booth 3 is coming in 2021,” the streaming platform posted on its official site. The Kissing Booth, which came out in May 2018, was based on the Beth Reekles self-published novel coming-of-age. The film, directed and adapted by Vince Marcello, became the most rewatched film in 2018 of Netflix.
It followed Elle (King), a teen whose love with high school senior and poor boy Noah (Elordi) puts her lifelong friendship with Noah’s younger brother, Lee (Courtney), at risk. The sequel picked up with Noah in her senior year of high school in Elle and Harvard.
The film sees Elle taking care of a long-distance relationship, registering for her fantasy college with best friend Lee, and a close friendship with a handsome new classmate Marco (Perez). But as Noah becomes close to a college girl (Richardson-Sellers), it’s a test of Elle’s hope.
