The legend of Camelot and King Arthur was reinvented and retold for centuries, but never really like Cursed. The traditional legend on its mind turns, shifting future Lady of the Lake, the attention to Nimue, queen of this Fey, and wielder of a Sword of Power.
Of course, Arthur’s there is more of a love interest for Nimue, a supporting participant, and a mercenary who comes on the battlefield. We also get reimagined versions of different icons such as a prospective Knights of the Round Table King Uther and the legendary wizard Merlin, from myth.
Cursed season 2 release date:
Netflix is to provide an official greenlight to Cursed year two. We’d anticipate a renewal announcement to come around the debut of a month following season 1 if the agency follows the previous form. The series dropped on July 17, so we’d expect news in mid-August.
Assuming the show does get picked up for another season, it’s unlikely we’d see it before the next half of 2021. There are around 18 months between seasons of Netflix displays – particularly those with production values as lavish as Cursed, and that is before you factor in the issues in drama. Once distancing and travel limitations come into the equation, odds of Cursed year two landing until 2022 seem slim.
Cursed Season 2 Cast:
Unless he returns in flashback – Peter Mullan’s Father Carden appears set to be the absentee in Cursed year 2.
Beyond that, we suspect the cast list will be more or less same as it has been in year 1, with Katherine Langford back as Nimue, Gustaf Skarsgård as Merlin, Devon Terrell as Arthur, Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Morgana, Emily Coates as Sister Iris, Billy Jenkins as Squirrel, Bella Dayne as the Red Spears, Lily Newmark as Pym, Sebastian Armesto as Uther and Clive Francis as the Pope.
There may also be a way back for Gawain (Matt Stokoe). Following Gawain’s death in the season 1 finale, Nimue used her magical powers to encase her buddy in protective plants — an act that will give a lifeline to the character. If Gawain does return from the dead, but we guess he will be somewhat changed from the encounter — perhaps he actually will turn into the”Green Knight” of legend.
What do we expect from season 2?
With Wheeler and Miller (both the executive producers around the TV series ) having already displayed a willingness to have fun with based Arthurian lore, what happens next is anybody’s guess — even if you’ve read Le Morte d’Arthur, or watched Excalibur, Merlin and The Sword in the Stone.
However, we will be surprised if we have seen the last of Nimue though she was sighted after being shot with arrows by obsessed Red Paladin assassin Sister Iris, tumbling. Not merely is Nimue the show’s attention, most of us recognize that rivers tend to find their way into larger bodies of water — unexpectedly convenient to get a character who’s always been destined to become the Lady of the Lake. It appears likely that some magic will make sure she stays alive.
“Nimue comes in the world of magical,” said Miller in a 2019 interview with Barnes and Noble. “Nimue is a creature of great power coming to her power. Her journey in the story is our travel. She is followed by us as we follow Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. She is the alpha and the omega.” That doesn’t seem like the description of a character who’d be discarded after one season. It doesn’t seem like Nimue celebrity Katherine Langford believes she is done with the role, either:
“I feel as [season 1] is just the tip of the iceberg,” she told Elle. “There’s a lot of discussing the sword this year, and I feel like it would be interesting to see exactly how deep Nimue’s powers proceed and what kind of untapped power she has within.”
His Cursed season 2 arc will be driven by a quest to find his daughter, Merlin, now shown as the father of Nimue. Now he’s rediscovered his powers — and that is the one brandishing the mythical Sword of Power – he is bound to be an even more potent force this time out. You wouldn’t wish to stand in his way.
For the Cursed season, Arthur slowly discovered a trigger of shielding the Fey in shape. That a crucial step in his inescapable journey towards becoming king – unless there are loads of people called Arthur in this world, and this one’s just a decoy.
He might wind up at a single corner of a romance because with the warrior that the Red Spear, the route could be clear to get a love affair with Nimue out of the way. Why? While it is not revealed in the show, the publication that is illustrated explains her actual name is Guinevere, hinting she’ll be Arthur’s queen.
We got a hunch that Arthur will combine forces with all the Fey-hunting Weeping Monk, now that he is apparently on the road to redemption. The most compelling evidence came when the Weeping Monk revealed his real name is Lancelot. With Squirrel also admitting he’s called Percival, a seat at the famous Round Table of Camelot is part of their future — like this can’t be a coincidence moniker.
There’s a vacancy after Father Carden’s passing, in the head of the Red Paladins. Sister Iris has (seemingly ) assassinated Nimue, and has been invited to join the Pope’s Trinity Guard, and it seems likely she will become Cursed’s chief antagonist in year two.
And there’s one more crucial question of individuality… Is your Sword of Power Excalibur? Must it be?
Cursed season 2 trailer: is there one?
