Avatar 2 appeared all set to eventually arrive next year after a wait of over a decade that featured several flaws.
Nonetheless, it turns out that there was yet another delay Avatar two ‘s sleeve, and we now won’t be returning to Pandora before December 2022. However, this time, it’s not the sequel’s fault because it is down to the worldwide situation affecting production.
Hopefully, this is the last move, especially if we are to stand any chance of visiting the other proposed sequels through to Avatar 5. (Yes, Avatar 5.)
Before we get ahead of ourselves too much, though, here’s everything you need to learn about Avatar two.
Avatar 2 release date: When will Avatar 20be out cinemas?
To cut a long story short, Avatar two will eventually be published on December 22, 2022, and was pushed back from December 2021.
The most recent delay was due to production being postponed based on the worldwide shutdown, not only the live-action filming in New Zealand but also the”virtual manufacturing work” taking place in Los Angeles.
Production got back underway in early June in New Zealand (not without controversy though), so we’ll have to hope that there are not any additional delays to manufacturing as the sequel aims for 2022.
As mentioned before, a new Avatar movie will adhere to each other year all of the ways until Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028. Well, that is the plan anyway.

If you want the full story of the movie’s long and protracted journey to the screen, here goes. Looking back on it, it seems almost absurd that Avatar 2 was scheduled for launch in December 2014. Also, Avatar 3 was scheduled for December 2015.
Those dates got pushed back, and you will not be amazed to learn. In April 2016, filming was meant to start on Avatar 2. However, April came and went, and filming got underway. In January the next year, it was announced that operate on the motion-capture element of this movie would begin by August 2017, but it started in September.
But a fourth Avatar movie was announced, which pushed the whole lot back to December 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectively. Nonetheless, it’s *checks calendar* 2020, and we still haven’t got a sequel, let alone three.
Each one the sequels were pushed back, together with Avatar two intended for December 2017 (along with the rest set for 2018 and 2019 presumably). James Cameron blamed the “very involved” writing process for those delays.
Avatar 2 Cast: Who will return into Avatar 2?
As per the information we have today, Avatar’s throw remains on board for another sequel. Fans will find Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, and CCH Pounder as Mo’ at from the primary roles. Some new characters are also assumed to be added for which Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, and Edie Falco has joined the sequel. Last but not least, Kate Winslet, who’ll be teaming up with Cameron to get a Titanic reunion, will probably be playing a vital role in the upcoming sequel together with the name Ronal.
Avatar 2 plot: What will Avatar 2be about?
Cameron has teased some details of Avatar two’s storyline in the decades since the first film, which will cope with familial and imprisonment’ topics.
The filmmaker has also been eager to point out that the films can all stand on their own, just if you’re one of the three individuals who did not see the first.
“Each picture is a standalone film that we would wanna go watch,” said producer Jon Landau. “You don’t have to have noticed the first Avatar to see Avatar two . It sits there and we are gonna take folks on a visual and an emotional journey that comes to its conclusion.”
Set a few years after Avatar’s events, Sully is now chieftain and Neytiri high priestess of the clan – although events will focus on their kids.
We hear they’ll also be journeying beyond Pandora’s forests into submerged and volcanic surroundings that Cameron promises will create “you shit yourself with your own mouth wide open.” That’s supposed to be quite a good thing, we believe…
Landau affirmed in the Fox presentation at CineEurope in June 2018 that water”plays a huge part” from the films.
To capture the significance of water, Avatar two will film its movement capture scenes submerged.
“It’s never been done before and it’s very tricky because our motion capture system, such as most motion capture programs, is the thing they call optical base, meaning it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras,” Cameron explained to Collider.
“The water problem is not the underwater part, but the interface between the atmosphere and the water, which creates a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it makes a lot of false titles.
“It’s a little bit like a fighter plane dumping a lot of chaff to confuse the radar of a missile. It creates thousands of false goals, so we’ve had to figure out how to get around that issue, which we did.”
