Based on NCB sources, Rakesh Asthana, that flew from Delhi to Mumbai earlier in the afternoon, met several officers and had been briefed on the two drugs cases the agency had registered last month following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrote to it after the alleged chats of several Bollywood celebrities allegedly discussing drugs.
With the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) questioning a few leading Bollywood divas as part of its research to the drug angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing, the drug law enforcement bureau’s chief Rakesh Asthana arrived in Mumbai on Sunday to take stock of this probe.
According to NCB sources, Asthana, who flew from Delhi to Mumbai earlier in the afternoon, met a few officers and was briefed about the two drugs cases the bureau had enrolled last month after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrote to it following the alleged talks of many Bollywood celebrities allegedly discussing drugs.
He was also apprised of the latest developments in the case from the NCB’s SIT. The NCB contested Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika’s former director Karishma Prakash on Saturday.
It had contested Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh, Dharma Productions’ former executive producer Kshitij Prasad Ravi, fashion designer Simone Khambatta and Anubhav Chopra on Friday.
After being questioned for many hours, Kshitij was also arrested by the NCB on Saturday.
The bureau has already arrested Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, the late actor’s home manager Samuel Miranda, individual staff Dipesh Sawant and many others.
Sushant was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14.
Apart from the NCB, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the ED will also be probing his passing.
