Riya Chakraborty, arrested in a drug case involving actor Sushant Singh Rajput, will still have to remain in jail. The special NDPS court has extended the judicial custody of Riya Chakraborty and Shauvik Chakraborty till October 20. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) opposed the bail application of Riya Chakraborty in the Bombay High Court. After the hearing, the court reserved its decision.
Riya was arrested on September 9 after a lengthy interrogation by the NCB. Judicial custody of Samuel Miranda, Deepesh Sawant and drug peddler Basit Parihar has also been extended till October 20, besides Riya-Shouvik. The Narcotics Control Bureau, which is investigating the drug angle in the case, has so far arrested more than 19 people.
In their affidavits in NCB, Riya and Shouvik have been described as active members of the drug syndicate. According to the affidavit, Riya being drug-related does not mean that she sought it for her use. Evidence such as his mobile chat records and laptop hard disks make it clear that he is constantly paying for drugs.
Shweta Singh Kirti has said that clarification needs to be given on the death being declared a suicide.
The ED investigating the Sushant case got evidence to talk about the drug, after which the NCB took over the investigation of the drug case. NCB has interrogated Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Karisma Prakash after drug chat surfaced.
