Money Heist season four (La casa de Papel) ramped up the action and added more bloodshed than all three previous seasons combined.
Fans might have expected the season-four finale to follow the same format as season two, neatly wrapping up the heist after just two seasons. But nothing seems to have gone to plan this time around, and the gang have been forced to buy themselves a bit more time.
That means season four ends on a cliffhanger, which left the door wide open for a potential Money Heist season five.
And thankfully, Netflix has confirmed it’s happening.
On Friday, July 31, Netflix announced Money Heist would be returning for a fifth – and final – season, saying “the heist will come to an end”.
White Lines, however, wasn’t so lucky.
The Netflix show, which was created by Álex Pina, was cancelled after one season.
Money Heist season five will shoot in Spain, Denmark and Portugal, with the final series consisting of 10 episodes. Netflix put its season five plans into action a few days after the announcement, starting production on August 3.
When will Money Heist Season 5 Release Date?
Money Heist season 1 was released on December 20, 2017, which was further followed by the release of Money Heist season 2 on April 6, 2018. After the success of first two seasons, Netflix decided to renew the series for another two seasons which were dropped on Netflix on July 19, 2019, and April 3, 2020, subsequently.
Seeing the past history, it is expected that Money Heist season 5 will be released in January 2021. However, since the coronavirus pandemic has stopped all the shootings and production work, we expect a delay of at least six months from the tentative date.
