While the series’s third season of this Crown is currently on Netflix and its highly-anticipated fourth season will be here before we know it. Creator Peter Morgan stated, back in January of 2020, the show would end in season 5, the period drama has now been ensured through the season.
After filming Season 4 year, The Crown’s manufacturing team is going to take a break and pick up filming Season 5 in June 2021. Ironically, this means new episodes will not premiere until 2022, barring any significant complications because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Of course, this is not the first-time The Crown has obtained a lengthy break; there was a two-year wait between Seasons 2 and 3.
It’s been verified that Imelda Staunton will take over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth. Olivia Colman took over in year three and will reprise her role at the fourth. Lesley Manville will change in the queen’s younger sister to get The Crown’s final season. Pryce will carry on the use of the Duke of Edinburgh following Tobias Menzies, linking Staunton and Manville at a powerhouse lead trio for The Crown’s final two seasons. Dominic West will play Prince Charles. Last but not least, Elizabeth Debicki will play with Diana from the 1990s.
If season 4 were to finish in the late’80s to early’90s, we are guessing The Crown season 5 could take us throughout the following decade to the early 2000s.
