Former Army Chief and Union Minister VK Singh has fiercely targeted the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police over the arrest of Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami of Republic TV. He said that how the Mumbai Police are dealing with Arnab Goswami, I think it would not have been treated in the same way with Kasab.
VK Singh compared to Emergency
While comparing the present time with the Emergency, VK Singh also targeted the Congress and said, ‘As we also saw in the Emergency, where the Congress has a hand, there is something wrong there. At that time, a lot was done to Indian Express and Ramnath Goenka. Today I can see the same happening against the Republic.
‘Nobody trusts Maharashtra Police’
The Union Minister said, ‘The case in which Arnab Goswami has been arrested, was closed in 2018. If the case was closed in 2018, then why are you falsely raising it today? Today no one has faith in Maharashtra Police. The police of Maharashtra has treated Arnab. The police of any civilized country do not do that.
Why has the police arrested Arnab Goswami?
Please tell that the Mumbai Police arrested Arnab Goswami on Wednesday in a two-year-old case of abetting interior designer Anvay Naik for suicide. After this, a court of Arnab Goswami in Raigad district of Alibag was presented late in the evening, where the court sent him to judicial custody of 14 charities. However, Arnab’s lawyer has filed a bail petition. Police said Arnab was arrested under sections 306 and 34. Apart from Urban Goswami, Feroz Mohammed Sheikh and Nitesh Sarada are also accused in the suicide case, which has been arrested by the police.
There is a charge of not giving 5.4 crore dues
A 53-year-old interior designer and his mother had been ordered to be re-examined by the CID for allegedly committing arrears by Arnab Goswami, Feroze Sheikh, and Nitesh Sarada. It was reportedly stated in the suicide note written by Anvay Naik that the accused had not paid his 5.40 crore rupees, so he had to take the step of suicide. However, Republic TV denied the allegations.
