The Indian smartphone market has recorded a huge growth of 42% in October this year compared to the previous year. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, in October this year, shipments of about 21 million units have been made. Due to the festival season in the third quarter of 2020, there has been a lot of demand for smartphones’ online sales. Like the previous quarter, there has been no change in the list of top-5 vendors in the third quarter of this year. Xiaomi again turned to the top-5 smartphone brand. After this, Samsung came in second place. Then come the names of Vivo, Realme, and Oppo.
Most sale of these smartphones
In the third quarter of 2020, Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9, and Vivo were captured to best sell smartphones. October this year is the second month in which the highest shipment of 21 million smartphones was made. Earlier in September, around 23 million smartphone units were shipped, which is the highest ever. Online sales grew by 53 percent over last year, with market size of 51 percent. At the same time, offline sales registered a growth of 33 percent over the previous year.
Huge increase in premium smartphone sales
The smartphones in the lower middle segment grew by 60 percent. Thus, its market size was 58 percent. The premium segment smartphones recorded manifold growth, including the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, OnePlus 8 smartphones. 10 lakh 5G devices were sold in 10 cities in India. In the year 2019, a total of 140 million smartphones were sold in India.
