Talking about the match, captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor lifted the team from an unbeaten 115-run partnership for the third wicket. They lifted New Zealand from the crisis on the first day of the first cricket Test against Pakistan. By the end of the day, Williamson was unbeaten on 94, and Nicholls remained unbeaten on 47 runs. New Zealand scored 222 runs on the first day at a loss of just three wickets. In which Ross Taylor also contributed 60 runs. Shah Afridi took all three wickets from Pakistan.
